Curriculum

Religion

- Our Religion book is called "GOD LOVES US." This program recognizes that young children have a readiness to learn about God. The program integrates scripture and doctrine in each lesson to help the students relate the richness of our Catholic faith to our everyday lives. 

​Reading

​-Our reading curriculum is called SUPERKIDS. This program is phonics-based, so the students are taught to read through letter-sound association. There are different letter books used for the different letters of the alphabet. 

​Math
- Our math program is called PROGRESS IN MATHEMATICS. It is a program that includes a lot of practice with manipulatives to increase knowledge and comprehension. Each student will have his or her own math textbook and math practice book.
Specials

- The following specials will be taught by separate teachers throughout the week.

  • Art

  • Music

  • Physical Education

  • Spanish

  • Computer

  • Library

Science

- Kindergarten does not use a textbook for science, but we will be using supplemental materials and lessons to cover the following science topics throughout the school year:​

  • Seasons and Weather

  • Earth Science- plants and animals

  • Outer space

  • Physics- speed, motion, movement

  • Five Senses

  • Our Bodies/health

  • Bears and Hibernation

Social Studies

- Kindergarten does not use a textbook for Science, but we will be using supplemental materals and lessons to cover the following social studies topics throughout the school year:

  • Community

  • Rules

  • Holidays

  • America

  • Geography- mountains, hills, bodies of water

  • Map skills

  • Transportation

  • Maryland

Family Life:​
- The Family Life Program will be used during the second half of the school year. In this series, the students will learn about: God's gift of family, God's gift of self, God's gift of love, and God's gift of community.
